What Is Dry AMD?

Dry AMD is a progressive eye condition that damages the macula, the part of your retina responsible for sharp, central vision. It is one of the leading causes of vision loss in adults over 50.

In its early stages, dry AMD may not cause noticeable symptoms. As it develops, it can lead to:

  • Blurry or distorted central vision
  • Difficulty seeing in low light
  • Reduced colour clarity and contrast sensitivity

MacuMira has been shown to help reverse some of this damage and support long-term macular health.

Benefits of MacuMira

MacuMira can help you:

  • Improve central vision: Clinical trials showed vision improvements in all participating patients
  • See more clearly in low light: Many patients report better contrast sensitivity and night vision
  • Experience results quickly: Some patients notice changes within the first 10 days

MacuMira is designed for patients with early or intermediate dry AMD. If you have been told there is no treatment for your condition, this noninvasive therapy may be a promising option.

What Happens During MacuMira Treatment

The treatment is comfortable and noninvasive and involves no injections or medications. The treatment uses a specialized headset that gently delivers microcurrent stimulation to your closed eyes.

Your eye care provider will create a personalized plan, typically starting with four sessions over 10 days, each lasting about 30 minutes.

During treatment:

  • You’ll be seated comfortably in an exam chair
  • The headset will be placed on your head
  • The microcurrent enhances blood flow to nourish the macula and stimulates the production of essential cellular components that support retinal health

To maintain the benefits of the treatment, you’ll typically have follow-up sessions every 2.5 to 3 months.
